Our Defensive Strength Continues in the League

After three weeks away, we were back home at the techsoc.com Stadium, ready to continue our strong run of form, this time against Histon.

The visitors proved difficult to break down in the opening 45 minutes, putting in a solid defensive display to keep the scoreline level heading into half-time. As we had done in the previous week, we refused to let this knock our confidence and came out fighting after the break, finding the breakthrough with three excellent goals to secure another three points.

Our opener came from Rhea Laudat Thomas-Arayo, following a move that started all the way back with our number one, Alex Baker. Nicole Farmer carried the ball forward into an excellent run, driving into the final third before the team worked the ball into Laudat Thomas-Arayo’s path. There was no hesitation, with a composed finish into the top-left corner to put us ahead.

We doubled our lead through Jordan Feldman, as Jo Butler-Williams delivered an excellent long ball into the box. With the Histon defence unable to deal with it cleanly, Feldman outsmarted her markers and found the back of the net to give us some breathing room.

Ammarah Ali rounded off the scoring with a fantastic finish of her own. Excellent teamwork between Ali and Sabrina Brightly down the left created the opportunity, before Ali produced a trademark strike from just outside the box to complete our three-goal haul.

Our back line continued their fine form, securing another clean sheet from a strong defensive performance. While largely untested, Baker showed excellent composure, producing an important save from long range to keep Histon out.

It was a complete team performance, but special mention to Feldman, who was particularly influential throughout, making her presence felt in every phase of play. Her confident performance and first goal of the season were rewarded with Player of the Match.

The result sees us move to the top of the table, level on games played, as we continue to chase promotion.
