Atlético London Prepare for FA Cup Test

Earlier this week, Atlético London welcomed a special visitor to the club. With the Adobe Women’s FA Cup trophy on site ahead of this weekend’s fixture, players and staff had the opportunity to spend time with one of the most iconic prizes in the game, a moment that brought the scale of the competition into sharp focus.

That attention now turns to the pitch. This weekend, Atlético London steps into the next stage of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, hosting Cambridge United in the third round qualifying. It’s a moment that sits slightly outside the rhythm of the league season, but one the club has been building towards.

Progression to this stage was secured emphatically. A 12–1 victory over Southend United not only underlined Atlético’s attacking quality but also hinted at the belief within the squad heading into the competition.

Speaking to the FA, vice-captain Jordan Feldman thinks belief is grounded in both experience and ambition. “I know a lot of girls have progressed through the rounds in years prior, so if we can get there or even further, that would be great for the club, to get our name out there. And for me personally, it’s just amazing to compete in such a historic competition and be part of that.”

Having seen previous squads make deep runs, there’s a clear sense of what’s possible, not just in terms of progression, but in what a cup run represents for a club still shaping its identity at this level. The opportunity to test themselves, to be seen, and to push further than before all sit alongside the immediate focus of winning the next game.

Also speaking to the FA, Goalkeeper Alex Baker points to consistency being key. While Cambridge arrive as strong opposition in their next game, there’s confidence in the way Atlético have been performing, and in their ability to carry that into a different kind of fixture.

Since the club’s transition from London Seaward at the start of the season, we have positioned ourselves with a clear purpose: to operate independently and to build an environment that reflects the needs of women’s football today. From widening access to the game to designing kit specifically for female athletes, the work off the pitch is as deliberate as the performances on it. The FA Cup, in that sense, offers something more than progression. For Atlético, it’s a chance for us to test how far we’ve come, and how far we can go.
